01
Start with the business outcome
Start with the commercial moment that actually matters: a sales-accepted lead, booked consultation, attended appointment, opportunity or completed sale. That definition should be written with the team who evaluates the outcome, not inferred from a platform default. Once it is agreed, use it consistently in reports, campaign reviews and CRM stages so every team is looking at the same destination.
02
Keep a stable identifier
Capture a permitted click or lead identifier at the point it becomes available, then preserve it through the form, CRM and any appointment or sales process. Do not place names, emails, phone numbers or sensitive details into analytics parameters or URLs. The goal is a durable connection between the advertising interaction and the later business status, not a larger collection of personal data.
03
Return outcomes carefully
Only return outcomes that meet the agreed definition, then deduplicate them and document their timing, source, consent basis and platform requirements. Compare platform-reported activity with CRM totals rather than expecting the numbers to match perfectly. A practical review asks whether signal quality is improving and whether the result changes a budget, message or follow-up decision.
